Buy Our Stuff!

We've been promising to offer our Quirky Works for sale, so here they are! (And we'll try to add more every day...including accessories and jewelry)

First up, What Women Talk About, an altered denim jacket with hand applique, hand embroidery, vintage fabric, and a fun theme! This jacket is sized large, which should fit from a size 12 to 14. The two women on the back of this jacket are talking about lots of topics, such as dreams, politics, and friendship. Bright reds, yellows and blues with splashes of orange and green adorn this jacket. $85.00 (shipping is $5.00)

Check out this lovely Floral Fantasy purse, pictured below. It is created from a melange of found and vintage fabrics, specifically an old throw pillow lined with a church sale placemat and a vintage button for fun. Bag measurements are 14" wide x 11" tall; the strap hangs down 15". Simple, basic construction, no pockets or zippers. A great everyday bag, and the ultimate recycled accessory! $24.00 ($4.00 shipping)

Below are photos of an altered denim blazer - a wonderful, medium-sized blazer with some stretch to it. The jacket has been embelleshed with a great vintage needlepoint tapestry of a rose or peony, plus vintage trim at the bottom edge and cuffs. The needlepoint flower is in tones of red, pink, and cream, with gold accents. This blazer will fit, because of its stretch, sizes 8 through 12. SOLD

Here's an altered skirt - size 8 - in a lovely, soft brown denim, designed to sit a little low on your hips. The skirt has been embellished with vintage curtain fabric, in shades of pink, red, purple, and green, plus some big, plush, purple rick-rack, and vintage lace trim. A great one-of-a-kind, recycled wearable from Quirky Works Studio. SOLD

Our Shop Is Open!

Hey! We have a shop! We converted a sweet sleeping porch in Karen's house into a little (really little!) display space for our quirky works. Here are some pictures. It'll be open by chance or by appointment, as it's right off of Karen's work space. Even though it's small, it's a great representation of our work and our loves. There's handmade/hand altered stuff alongside vintage goodies.

E-mail us at quirkyworks@live.com if you're going to be in the area and want to stop by!

Our Website is Up & Running!

Yay! We did it! We made a website all by ourselves! Now THAT is empowering! Now we can really get down to business. In the next few days, you'll see items listed for sale right here, on our blog, and you will be able to purchase them using PayPal.

We are also in the process of setting up our little (really little!) shop here in Karen's house in Cooperstown. The space is a very sweet sleeping porch where we will display our latest creations, as well as the great treasures we come across: vintage aprons, lovely glasswear, and the coolest old jewelry. (Karen uses old costume and vintage jewelry to make her refashioned Quirky Works Studio "key necklaces" and "heirlooms refashioned" necklaces, but sometimes we find something that is too wonderful to take apart!)

Stay tuned for lots more info, pictures, items for sale, and regular updates...

Martha and Karen
PumpkinFest, Cooperstown 2008

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog!

It's our second winter working together in Cooperstown, NY, and we are excited to show you some of the things we've been putting together.

We hope to use this blog to showcase our works and works-in-progress, and to offer items for sale. We've developed a loyal following here in Cooperstown, and we're looking forward to expanding our audience.

So, coming up in the next few days you'll be seeing pictures and reading more details about us and our work.

Thanks to our great customers and friends for your support, and, of course, to our families for putting up with a fair amount of creative chaos!
